Specifically, About Me
Comedian Kyle Vorbach Headshot

Parents of Kyle Vorbach Rejoice: My Website is Done!

At long last, my website is up and running. I will be updating with my newest projects and videos. I also have a confidence-boosting About Me page.

I eagerly wait for the future, where years from now, parents will tell their kids “we met on kylevorbach.com”.

Until then, talk to me on social media. People always say “I promise, I don’t bite”. I bite, like a feral animal. I was raised by wolves.

Dramatic Turn! I’m Making a Horror Movie

They say filmmaking is problem solving. Never has this been more true than this adventure that I’ve found myself on during the past year.

INT. PARENT’S BASEMENT – NIGHT

Last summer I began work on the short film that I planned on shooting this spring. I happened upon an idea while brainstorming, an idea that would be everything I wanted in a short – humor, action, visual effects – and got to writing immediately. And I realized I hated it.

So I came up with another idea. I had a great story, plenty of action, and maybe even viral potential. I got to writing immediately. And I realized that it wasn’t funny. I wanted to make something funny.

We were at square one again, until we returned to an idea my co-producer had… back when we were freshman in college. This idea was the one. Funny, action-packed, mind-blowing, heartfelt– the list goes on. We spent weeks meticulously plotting it, and with a grant deadline days away, I wrote the entire 15-page script in one weekend.

Wait, I Thought It Was a Horror Movie?

It is. And in a way, so was my life, when we found out TWO WEEKS BEFORE SHOOTING that our main, critical location tripled their cost, effectively canceling our production. But filmmaking is problem solving. The problem?

What do you do with a full crew, rented equipment, seven shooting days, and no script?

The answer? Kill yourself– churning out a script, that is. We wanted to make something funny, but when the joke was on us, we returned to the first good idea we had: the great story, with plenty of action, and maybe even viral potential. The horror movie, now called Wake.

We just wrapped principal photography. I’ll tell you all about it when I have more to show.

TL;DR

  1. I wrote a short comedy.
  2. Murphy’s Law.
  3. Dramatic turn!
  4. I’m making a horror movie.

NEW COMEDY WEB SERIES: GOODNIGHT JOHN

Goodnight John: Our OTHER New Comedy Series

You know those stupid conversations you have at sleepovers? Yeah, this is a comedy series about that.

What is Goodnight John?

Goodnight John is the newest addition to the stable of Future Boyfriends comedy series. It follows the titular John and his aggravated roommate Alex every night, right before they go to sleep. The dynamic is kind of like Jake and Amir, but right before bed. You’re going to like it.

After finishing the release of the John and Kyle Do Everything movie, I received a call from John about a script he wrote– a pilot for a potential new web series. I read it and laughed out loud, repeatedly, like a fool. I knew immediately that we had to make this new idea into a reality.

That pilot script has not changed a word. After defining the scope and idea for the series, we wrote an additional seven episodes for a full season of the show, and John got to work with production out in Los Angeles. Our aim is to make shorter, more digestible content than we previously did with the John and Kyle web series, with the added benefit of easy production (it all takes place in a bedroom!). Maybe we can make more in the future. Who knows.

In the mean time, watch the teaser attached to this post, and look out for the first episode next Monday. There’s seven more where that came from.

HIGH SCIENCE: Do We Live In a Multiverse??

Multiverse Theory: Let High Science Blow Your Mind

Welcome to High Science– it’s like if Bill Nye was really really high.

Our first episode is finally here! We’re kicking it off with one of the most mind-blowing concepts out there: the Multiverse Theory.

The Multiverse Theory? You mean like in Star Trek / Avengers / Justice League?

Yes.

Pop culture has used this theory in all sorts of stories– that’s because there are more than one multiverse theory. You can say there are multi multiverse theories. And statistically speaking, some very well could be true.

Watch this week’s host struggle his way through this topic, and maybe expand your mind too while you’re at it.

Pictured: your brain on drugs.

Some select feedback from the Reddit thread:

“Idk about you but he blew my mind while making me laugh. Good enough for me”

“These guys are going places”

“I can’t unsee him as Michael Cera…”

One more, if those last three testimonials didn’t sway you:

“daaaamn”

There you have it. If that last one didn’t convince you, I don’t know what will.
